which cookies do we use

HEMA uses various cookies. Below is an explanation of the cookies we use and the purposes for which we use them.

Functional or strictly necessary cookies

Functional or strictly necessary cookies are required for the operation of the HEMA Website and HEMA App. These anonymous cookies ensure, among other things, that:

  • Your preferences, such as language, location, and desired number of results to display, are saved. These cookies also remember, for example, which articles you have put in your shopping cart and the information you have entered in your order forms;
  • Your browser settings are saved, so that the HEMA Website is displayed optimally on your screen;
  • You have the option of saving your login details so that you do not have to enter them over and over again;
  • You can make payments via the HEMA Website and HEMA App;
  • It is possible to trace any abuse or other problems on our HEMA Websites, HEMA App, and other services. One example of this is the registration of multiple consecutive and unsuccessful login attempts.

No consent is required for the use of these cookies.

Analytical cookies

HEMA uses analytical cookies to research the use of the HEMA Website and HEMA App. These provide HEMA with insight into why and how often the HEMA Website and HEMA App are being used, and the data may be used to make any necessary changes to the HEMA Website and HEMA App. This is how we ensure that the HEMA Website and HEMA App function optimally.

HEMA processes anonymous statistics about visits to its Website and App. This is done using a web analysis system. The following details, among others, are saved in the web analysis system via cookies:

Third-party social media cookies

These are cookies which enable the functionalities of social media websites. Examples are a Google map with interactive travel directions, a “Like” button for Facebook, or the exchange of information, such as sharing messages and watching videos via social media.

Using these social media cookies enables you to share or recommend information on the HEMA Website and App. If you land on a web page that displays a social media button and you click on that button, that social media party will install cookies on your computer or mobile device. The uses of these cookies include collecting information about your browser and the websites visited from your IP address. Videos originating from third parties, including YouTube, are shown via the HEMA Website and App. These third parties install cookies that enable the videos to be shown to you. Cookies can also be installed that are used to monitor your surfing activities on multiple websites and to formulate a profile of your surfing activities. These cookies are subject to the additional conditions of the third parties who install them and use them to collect data. HEMA is not responsible for such third-party conditions. HEMA refers to the conditions of the following parties: Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest.

Advertisement cookies

HEMA uses these cookies to keep track of how many and which HEMA and/or third-party advertisements you have been shown via the HEMA Website and HEMA App.

HEMA uses re-targeting and/or re-marketing technologies on the HEMA Website and App. This is how we can provide you with appealing and personalised offers. In order to do this, HEMA installs cookies that enable your surfing activities on the HEMA Website and HEMA App to be monitored and a profile of your surfing activities to be created.

Based on this profile, HEMA can show you personalised advertisements on third-party websites. Conversely, other parties, such as media firms and advertising networks, place advertisements on the HEMA Website and App, in connection with which they install advertising cookies via the HEMA Website and HEMA App.

reading out information without cookies

Aside from installing cookies, HEMA also reads out information from your browser and mobile device without installing a cookie. HEMA uses this information to be able to monitor your surfing activities and better tailor its services to your use.

You can also adjust your settings so that your browser refuses all cookies or only cookies from third parties. You can also delete cookies that have already been installed.

You are free at any time to withdraw the consent you have given HEMA to install and read out cookies by changing the cookie settings in your browser accordingly, so that your browser does not accept any cookies and/or deletes all the cookies that have been installed in your browser.
